Why Travel Tuesday: Wat Lok Molee, Chiang Mai

(Every Tuesday, I will be featuring a photograph from a place I have gone to, a photograph which I believe will inspire others to go out and see the world for themselves. For this week, Why Travel Tuesday features a photo from my favorite temple in all the temples of Chiang Mai: Wat Lok Molee.)

Chiang Mai, Thailand's northern rose, is not in-your-face stunning when it comes to sights. You sort of have to venture out a little further, dig a little deeper, or stay a little while longer. I did, for quite a few months actually, and I fell right in love with it. From its delicious food, to its lively markets, and to these, its magnificent temples. That Chiang Mai has a lot of temples is an understatement. Of all those temples, however, this one's my favorite. Wat Lok Molee has a distinctive northern Lanna Thai style. It's made of teak, very simple, and definitely reflective of its more humble rural origins.

What distinctive temples or places of worship have you encountered in your travels?
