Foodie Friday: Chai Masala

(We all know I love to eat, so you know I am not kidding around when talking about food. On Fridays, let me torture myself and anyone who might stumble upon this travel blog with a photo of a delicious food I had in my travels. This includes food I made myself. Yes, I cook. This week, Foodie Friday features an Indian drink I and many other travelers like me have grown to love: Chai Masala.)

Chai Masala, Penang, Malaysia
At last, we meet again, chai masala.

Ask independent travelers or backpackers who have traveled to India or Nepal about a habit they have acquired in those South Asian countries and most likely, one of them would be to sip a cup of delicious chai masala at least once a day. It is made with a strong variety of tea with milk, infused with cloves, cinnamon, and any other spice you would find in a typical Indian pantry. Chai masala is great before a meal, after a meal, after a day sightseeing, or after a day trekking in the Himalayas for that matter. It has been too long since I had a cup of chai masala. Today, I had one again. It was a little sweeter than what I was used to. Then again, they do love their canned condensed milk here in Malaysia. I just arrived in historic Penang island. Let's see what other delicious delights this food paradise has in store.

Have you had chai masala before? Did you like it?
