Why Travel Tuesday: Great Wall of China

(Every Tuesday, I will be featuring a photograph from a place I have gone to, a photograph which I believe will inspire others to go out and see the world for themselves. For this week, Why Travel Tuesday features one of the wonders of China and one of the most scenic sights in China: The Great Wall.)

The Great Wall of China in Mutianyu

China remains to be the country in Asia that intrigues me the most, for all its wonders, its tastes, its bizarreness, and its faults. I have been writing about my travels in Southwest China the past few weeks, about experiencing spring in Kunming, finding hippie haven in Dali, among others. I am to write a few more stories about Yunnan and Sichuan in Southwest China, but here's something to remind myself that I have been to the opposite corner of the country, that is, in the country's capital, Beijing, in the northeast. I have walked through the gates of the Forbidden City and the high fortifications of the Great Wall. Something tells me I am to return to China at some point, maybe farther in Northeast China this time, like Siberia far, or maybe to its Far West where China becomes Central Asia. But that's a long way down the road.

Which corner/s of China have you seen? Which corners do you want to travel to?
