Why Travel Tuesday: Chinatown Bangkok

(Every Tuesday, I will be featuring a photograph from a place I have gone to, a photograph which I believe will inspire others to go out and see the world for themselves. For this week, Why Travel Tuesday features night lights in an especially lively area of Thailand's capital city: Yaowarat Road, Chinatown Bangkok.)

Yaowarat Road, Chinatown, Bangkok, Thailand

There was once a time when I thought Bangkok, with all the noise, pollution, heat, and the traffic jam any time of day was all too much for this peace-seeking and laidback-craving traveler. The main reason, really, for which I will always be impartial to Chiang Mai, Thailand's second city and capital of the north. Then, I gave Thailand's true capital city a second chance and thanks to awesome travel blogger Mark Wiens of Migrationology.com who devoured and savored with me all manner of smells and foods in our food tour of Bangkok Chinatown, and to fellow travelers I met who purposely and sacrilegiously chose to stay away from the most infamous of all backpacker districts in Southeast Asia, Bangkok's Khao San Road, like I did, I am thinking I'm liking Krung Thep, the City of Angels. For real this time.

Do you like heading to big chaotic capital cities when you travel? Why or why not?
