(Every Tuesday, I will be featuring a photograph from a place I have gone to, a photograph which I believe will inspire others to go out and see the world for themselves. For this week, Why Travel Tuesday features the charm and quaintness of Malacca Old Town and old towns all over Asia.)
I just arrived in Malacca, Malaysia from a three-hour bus ride from Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital. It wasn't a particularly long ride but it felt that way. I guess big cities, like KL, do that to you. I knew Malacca was going to be a respite from all that noise and chaos. And I am glad that it instantly felt that way. I guess old towns, and I've visited a lot of them in Asia, has a way of calming and slowing you down. No rush here. Take your time. Sit down. Have a cup of coffee. Relax and while your troubles away. So I guess that's what I am doing today. First time I see the blue sky in Malaysia. And I'm heading out.
Have you visited old towns in your travels? Which one do you particularly like?
