Why Travel Tuesday: Capturing the Sunrise

Every Tuesday, I will be featuring a photograph from a place I have gone to, a photograph which I believe will inspire others to go out and see the world for themselves. For this week, Why Travel Tuesday is about Capturing the Sunrise.

Playa sa Sariaya

One of the many things that a travel photographer (or someone aspiring to be one) likes to take photos of is the sunset. I have had my fair share of beautiful scenic sunsets. Whether I did them justice through my photos is another question altogether. However, I think, sunsets are convenient, too convenient in that it doesn't take that much effort to get a beautiful shot of it.

Thus, hardcore shutterbugs chase after another thing, the sunset's more elusive sibling—the sunrise. You need to get up really early to set up your gear, watch the colors go from black to dark blue to violet until you see that golden horizon, giving you the chance to catch that right moment, that few seconds, when the light and the shadow is its most brilliant and vivid. You don't have to think about it. You unconsciously and instinctively start clicking on your camera. A few seconds pass, everything becomes bright and the sun has fully risen. Hopefully by then you've got your shot. Because you never know (and you can never really know, can you?) if you get another chance to capture it tomorrow.

So take that shot. Tomorrow is promised to no-one. You only have now. ;)
